The ec team as part of Murray Ó Laoire Architects and in association with ARUP, CB Richard Ellis and Bruce Shaw were commissioned by Dublin City Council as lead consultants to prepare a Strategic Plan for Naas Road.
The Naas Road Lands Strategic Plan area is located to the south west of Dublin City centre (the ‘western suburbs’) within the Dublin City boundary. The Plan area is a gateway along one of the primary routes to Dublin City centre; the N7, from the major urban centres of Cork and Limerick. The purpose of the Naas Road Lands Strategic Plan is to facilitate and co-ordinate the redevelopment of the largely mono-use industrial lands at Naas Road. The Plan seeks to redefine the relationship of the study area with its immediate physical environment, providing for a mixed use commercial centre that responds to existing public transport nodes, local community facilities and existing landscape and cultural qualities. The Plan promotes breaking down existing physical and social barriers with surrounding local communities and seeks to ensure that a harmonious relationship is founded between emerging development areas and adjoining land uses within and around the study area.
