PIVOT Dublin

‘Together they have produced an outstanding document that arguably represents the most comprehensive research into the wider Irish design culture since the pioneer report Design in Ireland, which led to the establishment of the Kilkenny Design workshop in 1965.’
Architecture Ireland Magazine

ec, Red&Grey Design and Areaman Film production were awarded the contract to produce Dublin’s bid for World Design Capital designation in 2014, a Bid document which has now been shortlisted down to the final three of 56 cities worldwide. The bid involved researching the creative design industry and culture in Dublin, the production of original text and the co-ordination of inputs from a range of stakeholders, both public and private sector; from Architects to Product Designers and from ‘Oscar’ winning animators to sustainable designers, into a compelling story and eye-catching bid document.

Shrouded in thirty specially designed covers from top Irish designers based around the globe, swelling to the thickness of a laptop from the 90’s, consisting of 416 pages of research and imagery, and accompanied by a film on design and designers in the city.

ec have gained a thorough knowledge of key innovators through research and contact with the vast array of leading companies, educators and entrepreneurs across all design disciplines and industries, and ec are excited to have produced what could become one of the most strategic design projects in the Nation’s recovery programme.
